Biparental progenies (BIP's) of inter-varietal cross Mino Early White x Pusa Himani (MEW x PH) of radish were developed in F2 generation by utilizing North Carolina Design-I suggested by Comstock and Robinson (1948 and 1952). The analysis of variance indicated significant differences among the BIP's and F3 progenies for different horticultural and quality parameters studied indicating the presence of good quantum of variability between BIP's and F3 progenies. Biparental progenies when compared with F3 progenies for their overall mean values revealed that former had greater means for most of the characters except leaf weight, leaf length and nitrate content. The biparental progenies resulted in creation of more genetic variability by breakage of both coupling and repulsion phase linkages that conceal the genetic variability in F2. The phenotypic variability as revealed by the coefficient of variation (%) was greater in BIP progenies than F3 progenies. The superior performance of biparental and F3 generations revealed the breakage of undesirable linkages and plateau effect for bringing further improvement in radish.Keywords

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2018 at Experimental Form of Department of Seed Science and Technology, CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur, to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on seed yield and quality in soybean (Glycine max L). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design comprising of ten treatments with T1 (FYM @ 10t/ha + 75% RDF), T2 (FYM @ 10t/ha + 100% RDF), T3 (Vermicompost @ 5t/ha + 75% RDF), T4 (Vermicompost @ 5t/ha + 100% 3 4 RDF), T5 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + 75% RDF), T6 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + 100% RDF), T7 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor + 75% RDF), T8 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor + 100% RDF), T9 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor), T10 (FYM @ 10t/ha + Vermicompost 5t/ha + Azotobactor). Significantly high 100 seed weight was recorded in 10 treatment T4 (Vermicompost @ 5t/ha + 100% RDF) which remained at pare with treatment T8 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor + 100% RDF) and T7 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor + 75% RDF). Higher seedling length was recorded in treatment T7 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor + 75% RDF) which remained at par with treatment T6 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + 100% RDF) and treatment T4 (Vermicompost @ 5t/ha + 100% RDF). Significantly higher vigor index was recorded in treatment T7 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor + 75% RDF) which remained at par with treatment T4 (Vermicompost @ 5t/ha + 100% RDF) and treatment T8 (FYM @ 5t/ha + Vermicompost 2.5t/ha + Azotobactor + 100% RDF).Keywords
